Why the website was down:
First, I want to explain why we experienced some downtime on the website. It's like something out of a movie.
We are a customer of a software company, which in turn was a client of a hosting company, Bluehost.
Bluehost was acquired by a larger company a couple weeks ago, and they laid off many of their executives and employees, right before Christmas.
They also terminated many hosting accounts, deleted servers, and even backups.
Our software company, not us, had an expired
card on file, and Bluehost, according to their terms and conditions, was supposed to stop service access as a warning for them to update their card.
Bluehost didn't do this, and our software provider was unaware of the issue. Bluehost then deleted their account, their servers, and backup servers, which affected several other companies as well.
Our software provider continued to contact Bluehost every day up until now, trying to get a backup, emailing their executives, and doing everything they could to help us. Unfortunately, Bluehost has been non-responsive.
The bottom line is Bluehost violated their terms on their website by not temporarily suspending the service to provide a warning.
They just deleted it. We still can't believe they did it, but it happened.
Turing a challenge into a positive, this experience has helped us to upgrade our servers, hosting, and prevent any issue like this in the future.
What
SHG did to solve the issue:
Sometimes in life, you have to take 2 steps back to move 10 steps forward!
As the CEO, I had really hoped Bluehost would provide our software company with a backup, and all we needed to do was upload it to our server, and the site would be back instantly.
However, the day after the website went down, and after our software company's multiple attempts to get help from Bluehost, our team immediately started working on Plan B.
The good news is that SHG is now a direct client of a superior hosting company with multiple redundant backups in several physical locations,
on a server capable of expanding to millions of members. This was a major upgrade to our technology!
This technology allows for scaling up seamlessly, making sure we never have this issue again. Now we are in direct control of our hosting, and we won't have to go through any software companies for hosting anymore.
SHG is now the direct client of the better hosting company and backups are always being made and stored in multiple physical locations!
We got to work right away, and rebuilding the database from our records has taken some time, but we're almost there.
We're
about to open up your website for you to log in, use your benefits, and start referring others and earning again!
This has been a short speed bump in our 17 years of business as Savings Highway, and as many of you know, over the last couple of years with the launch of Savings Highway Global, we started adding all these amazing new services and benefits.

Even though Bluehost deleted the servers and backups, we still have crucial
data. We know exactly who referred whom, and this list is currently being uploaded to the new servers!
This means soon when you log in, you will see everyone you've referred, everyone they've referred, and so on. Then we'll need to rebuild the matrix based on referrals, and we're back in business, running at full speed!
